Health careers abroad. Chapter 33 provides information on job opportunities, skills needed, personal stories of working in health abroad, websites with job listings, and health training programs.

Global Health Directory
Provides background information on various health establishments. You'll find employment and volunteer opportunities as well as any current internships from various employers. You must register to access the job portion of the website. They also have some resources on topics including HIV, nutrition, and reproductive health. A unique feature is the "What You Can Do" section, which provides opportunities for advocacy and learning about legislation.
International Healthcare Opportunities Clearinghouse (IHOC)
This is a database of different health organizations around the country. It also includes some information on grants, and traveling and staying healthy while abroad.
Public Health Resources on the Internet
This Berkeley-run database contains a wealth of links categorized by subject. Each subject is then divided into listings of organizations, online publications, and guides.

CareerConnect (formerly Stanford Career Network)
Search for alumni with backgrounds or geographical locations that interest you; locate alumni for informational interviews and career networking.

Global Health Education Consortium (GHEC)
Professional association that hosts a conference each year (co-sponsored by Stanford). Resources section of website has a lot of links to organizations, information and opportunities.
American Public Health Association
Section on journals, books, and other resources for news updates in the health sector. They have a webpage on legislation and current health policy. Also, provides links to health organizations, both by state and on a national scale.

Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab of MIT, Research Assistant
12-24 month research assistant positions. Strong background or major in economics recommended. Job opportunities available in many different countries. Study and evaluate specific programs aimed at decreasing poverty.
Global Health Post-Bachelor Fellowship Program, Institute for Health Metrics
and Evaluation at the University of Washington
A two year program for recent college graduates with strong quantitative skills to train with faculty and senior researchers on different global health projects. Applicants who are considering pursuing an MD must be able to make a minimum of a two-year commitment to the PBF program.
USAID Global Health Fellows
Summer internships for students interested in global health. USAID provides assistance to Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and the Near East, and Europe and Eurasia. It receives foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State.
Harvard Initiative for Global Health Fellowships
Fellowship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of global health and global environment areas.
