The increasing diversity of anthropological scholars has enlivened intellectual productivity, challenged prevailing assumptions and forced us to think in more rigorous ways.  It has helped us to rethink whether homogeneity is the ‘natural’ state of human society.

At Stanford we understand the value of  connecting our academic mission with public service. Students, faculty and staff are actively involved in a variety of public and community service initiatives.   Their involvement is through the established programs, academic departments  as well as the ethnical/cultural centers on campus.  Such activities range from raising donations for hurricane victims, tutoring young elementary school children to creating a high school in a local community.  This section offers links to the many and varied community services activities and programs at Stanford.
