Stanford Public Interest Network (SPIN)

Originally founded in 2003 and re-launched in 2007 by the Haas Center’s Postgraduate Program, the Stanford Public Interest Network (SPIN) fellowship places graduating seniors and coterms in full-time, 12-month paid positions in nonprofit organizations and government agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City. (Organizations pay fellows a $31,800 stipend plus full health benefits for a 12-month commitment.) During the fellowship year, SPIN fellows are matched with an alumni mentor and participate in a professional development program designed to support fellows and aid their personal and professional growth.

The SPIN fellowship program aims to

  • recruit talented students to work in public service;
  • engage alumni working in and committed to public service; and
  • assist public interest organizations in finding qualified staff.
