Bethany Steiner is a visiting lecturer from University of Oregon where she is Associate Director of the Community Planning Workshop (CPW) and an instructor in the Department of Public Policy, Planning and Management. CPW is a service learning program in which students in the Master of Community and Regional Planning Program work in teams under the direction of faculty to develop proposals, conduct research, analyze and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations for possible solutions to policy and planning problems in rural Oregon communities. Recent projects include City of Eugene Pedestrian and Bicycle Strategic Plan, Oregon School Siting Handbook, City of Troutdale Parks Master Plan, and City of Eugene Diversity and Equity Strategic Plan.
While at Stanford, she will teach in the Program on Urban Studies and will work at the Haas Center as a visiting practitioner. She will assist the Haas Center in developing its strategic plan.
Bethany received her BA in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from Middlebury College and her MS in Environmental Psychology from Cornell University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). Prior to her work at the University of Oregon, she was a VISTA volunteer, a director of a mentoring program for ninth-grade girls, and a city planning consultant.
