The Haas Center for Public Service is Stanford University's
most visible commitment to public and community service. Established in 1985 by
President Donald Kennedy, the Haas Center provides many ways for Stanford

to strengthen communities and develop effective public leaders. The Center
aspires to develop aware, engaged and thoughtful citizens who contribute to the
realization of a more just and humane world.
