Context

The Office of the Vice Provost of Student Affairs has awarded the Haas Center for Public Service an “Innovations in Diversity, Engagement and Awareness (IDEA)” grant. With this funding, the Inclusive Haas Committee (IHC) will build an engaging and innovative Haas Center staff mentoring community to encourage networking and professional development opportunities as well as the continued exploration of power, privilege and identity. Over the next year IHC will organize a series of mentoring events, and seeks a student assistant who is able to commit to the project through 2012. The student will be invited to sit on the IHC and create a series of short videos to be shared with Student Affairs personnel, larger Stanford community, and/or other institutions of higher education. 

Responsibilities

  • film and edit each mentoring panel (3 total)
  • conduct brief interviews with each panelist
  • produce short instructional videos within 3 to 5 weeks of each panel
  • help share videos through social media in conjunction with the Haas Center's Communication Director
  • assist IHC with project logistics, as necessary

Qualifications

  • knowledge of the work of the Haas Center for Public Service
  • a deep interest in service and diversity
  • demonstrated command of video and editing
  • experience in producing short videos and familiarity with video equipment
  • experience in Drupal or other content management system a plus
  • experience with design software (PhotoShop, Illustrator) and photography preferred
  • ability to function as a self-starter
  • creativity, flexibility, organization, and attention to detail
