Context

The Postgraduate and Alumni Program at the Haas Center provides resources, advising and fellowship opportunities for students seeking public service opportunities after graduation and engages alumni with the current work of the Haas Center. Partnering closely with the Career Development Center, Stanford Alumni Association, and various community organizations, the Postgraduate and Alumni Program:

  • provides high-impact programs that inspire and inform students about public service career paths
  • administers four fellowship programs that each provide fulltime, paid and mentored public service work experiences after graduation
  • connects alumni with current students to aid career exploration and development
  • creates and maintains resources for students seeking information about public service career paths

Responsibilities

The Postgraduate and Alumni Program Student Assistants support the program by:

  • planning and executing events, including developing and utilizing publicity and outreach strategies
  • supporting the postgraduate fellowships programs (Ford, Gardner, SPIN, and International Public Service) by aiding recruitment, online application process, alumni database updates, mid-year meeting and event planning, etc.
  • developing, maintaining, and publicizing the Fellowships, Internships and Service Programs (FISP) database
  • providing feedback and student perspective during planning and execution of program activities

Qualifications

The Postgraduate and Alumni Program typically hires two or three student assistants during the school year and one during the summer. Ideal candidates for this job are:

  • knowledgeable about the Haas Center's work
  • experienced in conducting publicity and outreach on Stanford's campus
  • strong written and verbal communicators
  • comfortable exercising independent judgment and thinking critically
  • ready to dive in and contribute their positive energy, can-do attitude and talents to program development and maintenance.
