Student Development Program Assistant (school year)

Level/Pay Rate

Students are paid on a hourly basis. The range is $12.05 to $13.10, depending on experience.

Context

The Haas Center inspires Stanford to realize a just and sustainable world through service, scholarship, and community partnerships. Within the context of Student Development, the Haas Center hopes to foster a sense of community, promote leadership, and enhance the development of students engaged in all pathways of public service at Stanford. We accomplish this by providing support for individuals and groups through advising, training, and other resources that promote ethical and effective service, positive personal interactions, and a physical space that contributes to the building of community at Stanford and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance advertising and promotional efforts for workshops, student group events, and other service opportunities to the Stanford student community.
  • Assist with workshop preparation.
  • Create and update Haas Center bulletin board/common space areas.
  • Administer public service email list (service4all).
  • Provide general advising support in Bing Information Resource Center (BIRC).
  • Coordinate student service organization space at Haas Center.
  • Organize shared resources for student service organizations (including activity toolkits, arts/crafts supplies, etc.).
  • other projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • knowledge of the work of the Haas Center, and an interest in service
  • creativity, flexibility, organization, and attention to detail
  • ability to function as a self-starter

Preferred Qualifications

  • general knowledge of student service organizations at Stanford University
  • experience with photo-editing/design software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, etc.)
  • familiarity with effective methods of promotion and marketing on campus
