Stern Hall,  Serra: All Freshman

Susan O’Hara & Stuart Bennett

Dr. Susan O'Hara is an Associate Professor in the Stanford School of Education and Executive Director of the Center to Support Excellence in Teaching. Her research agenda focuses on teacher professional development. Specifically, she investigates approaches to providing a challenging and meaningful science, math and technology-enhanced curriculum to linguistically and culturally diverse populations. Much of her professional research and practice has focused on building and sustaining intellectually challenging, learning communities. Susan received her B.S. in Mathematical Physics from University College Dublin in Ireland, her Masters degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Southern California and her Ph.d in Science and Mathematics Education from the University of California. Stuart is also a graduate of University College Dublin, where he and Susan met as freshmen, and attended USC for graduate school. He is a credentialed actuary and enterprise risk analyst having worked with several large public sector pension funds. They are the proud and exasperated parents of twin six year-old girls, Aisling and Sabha, who are vocal and playful forces in Serra.

Mark Capelli & Anne Marie Capelli

Mark Cappelli began his career at Stanford in 1987, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as Acting Assistant Professor; he later became chair of the Thermosciences Division of the department. Since 2005, he has been Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford, with specialization in plasma; since 2010, Mark has been Chair of Graduate Admissions. During his career, Professor Cappelli has been appointed to positions with such organizations as NASA and the United States Air Force, has been visiting professor at Universities in the U.S., Canada, and France, and has been a scientific consult in complex legal matters. Mark and his wife, Anne Marie Cappelli, have two daughters, both of whom are undergraduates, at Stanford and at UCSD.

Anne Marie Cappelli is a fashion designer who focuses in interior design.

Wilbur Hall, Arroyo: All Freshman

James Holland Jones & Libra Hilde

Jamie Jones is Associate Professor of Anthropology and a senior fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment at Stanford. His research interests include human ecology, biodemography, and infectious disease. Professor Jones did his undergraduate work at New College in Sarasota Florida and his Ph.D. in anthropology at Harvard. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Washington in Seattle in the Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences, Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology, and the Center for AIDS and STD.

Libra Hilde is Assistant Professor of History at San José State University. Her research interests include 19th-century American history, the Civil War, slavery, reconstruction, women’s history, and Native American history. She has a B.A. in history and Native American studies from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. in history from Harvard.

Jamie and Libra have a thirteen year-old son and a ten year-old daughter.

Manzanita, Kimball: Upperclass

Scott St. John & Sharon Wei

Scott St. John and Sharon Wei are both instructors in Stanford University’s Department of Music.

Scott is a violinist in the St. Lawrence String Quartet, which performs frequently across the globe.

Sharon teaches viola and chamber music; she is a founding member of Ensemble Made In Canada.

Both attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Sharon has a Master’s degree from Yale, and Scott has been a professor of violin at University of Toronto. They have a baby daughter named Julia.

Dan Klein & Michelle Darby

Dan Klein is a lecturer in the Drama Department and the Graduate School of Business. Dan, Improviser, is an alumnus of Stanford and a founding member of the Slmps. His previous appointments include the American Conservatory Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Dominican University, Menlo School, and Bay Area Theatresports (BATS) Improv. He also teaches in global organizations and writes comedy.

Michelle Darby ran the Compelling Communications program at the Academy of Art University and is the Artistic Director of the Tallapoosa Shakespeare Festival in West Georgia.

They have one son, Ben.

Row, Muekma-tah-ruk: American Indian Theme House

Carmen Sebro & Stephen Sebro

Carmen and Stephen Sebro are Stanford alumni who met as undergraduates at Stanford, where Carmen majored in Human Biology and Stephen received his degree in Economics.

After working as a strategy and operations consultant in Los Angeles, Carmen returned to campus as an undergraduate admissions officer, where she works to admit and yield the next great class of Stanford students.

Stephen works in the area as a software engineer where he pursues his interests in computer science and behavioral economics. One of the best parts of their Stanford experience was finding some of their greatest friends and mentors through their dorm “families”, and they are excited to serve the campus community as RFs.

Governor's Corner, FroSoCo: Freshman, Sophomore College

LaCona Woltmon & Cisco Barron

LaCona Woltmon and Cisco Barrón joined the Farm in 2000 as undergraduates. LaCona is now Assistant Director East Campus, Residential Education and Cisco is  Assistant Director West Campus, Residential Education

Both received masters degrees in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University (SCU), while working full-time at Stanford. Cisco recently completed a second M.A. in Higher Education, also from SCU, with a focus on student development and the history of higher education. Cisco and LaCona continue to find fulfillment in giving back to their alma mater as professional staff at Stanford.
