The Sophomore Year

Main content start

What’s Happened

  • 11 all-sophomore dorms created to support the Class of ‘24.
  • Sophomores were given the opportunity to participate in a roommate matching process, much like they would have experienced in their first year at Stanford.  We had 450 students participate, or 28% of the sophomore class.
  • 73% of the sophomore class are in RF houses, 7% are on the Row and 20% are in apartments.

What’s Next

Neighborhood Connection: With the launch of the community councils, we had more opportunities for sophomores to meet one another in their neighborhoods!

Transition of all-soph housing:  All-sophomore housing was created for 2021-2022 to give the class of '24, who spent their frosh year in remote learning, an experience similar to what they would have had as frosh. We will be ending all-sophomore housing after this academic year to open up a broader set of housing options for all upperclass students in their neighborhoods.
