Step-by-Step Guide to Covid Isolation Tiers

The university is fully prepared to respond to all possible COVID conditions on campus. The easy step-by-step guide outlined on each COVID tier below will quickly help you navigate our current status and isolation guidance.

Whether you are isolating in-place or placed in Stanford-provided isolation housing, all students should:

  • Complete Health Check to inform the university, receive your 90-day green Health Check badge and Color testing exemption.
  • Send a copy of your positive COVID test results (attached to a message with the subject line "secure: test results") to the "COVID Medical Care Team" through vadenpatient.stanford.edu, for medical care and future isolation and travel clearance.
    • Varsity athletes should instead contact the Sports Medicine team. Submit a SNOW ticket to request resources for isolation and meal delivery options.

  • Undergraduates Who Do Not Live in Mirrielees or EVGR-A (Isolation via Q/I Spaces): See Gold Q/I Desk Isolation Protocol Here
  • Undergraduates in Mirrielees and EVGR-A; Postdocs, Graduate, and Professional Students in Stanford Housing (Isolation in-place): See Steps Below

  • Undergraduates Who Live in Shared Bedrooms (Isolation via Q/I Spaces): See Gold Q/I Desk Isolation Protocol Here
  • All Undergraduates with Single Bedrooms (not including two-room doubles), Postdocs, Graduate, and Professional Students in Stanford Housing (Isolation in-place): See Steps Below

What changes with Blue Tier?

Students with single bedrooms isolate in place and use designated isolation bathrooms.
All other undergraduates need to call the Q/I Desk before moving to an isolation space.

02 Follow the steps to the right to inform the university and receive access to resources including medical care, isolation information and meals
03 Take your things and report to the QI desk from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. From 5 p.m. - 8 a.m., students should call C.A.R.E (650.725.1602).  
04 Move into your isolation room and visit the links to the right
  • Review this site for information on isolation, and await further communication 
05 Review information on ending your isolation period

Q/I Desk Isolation: Blue Tier

What changes with Blue Tier?
Students need to call the Q/I Desk before moving to an isolation space

Step Description Additional Information
01 Positive COVID-19 Test (Color, Rapid Antigen, and/or 3rd party)  
02 Follow the steps to the right to inform the university and receive access to resources including medical care, isolation information and meals
03 Call the Q/I Desk (650.784.5961), open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to see if there is isolation space. From 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., call C.A.R.E (650.725.1602).
  • If there is isolation space, you can proceed to Step 4

  • If there is not space available follow the Blue Tier for Isolation in-place above

04 Move into your isolation room, and visit the links to the right
