The Power of Healing a Relationship

Featured Student Story

Healing a relationship can be both an extremely difficult and extremely rewarding process. In my journey I found that my resentment and unresolved conflicts/emotions were really impacting my mental health in a negative way. I learned through boundaries, communication, and empathy how to heal one of the most challenging and important relationships in my life: my relationship with my father.

Grief Over the Holidays: Five Recommendations

In the Spotlight

Grief is a natural response to loss, often intensifying during holidays when routines shift and the absence of loved ones becomes more pronounced. It is common to experience a range of feelings, from sadness and numbness to guilt and anger. Dr. Helen Hsu, Director of Outreach at CAPS, offers five recommendations to help you navigate feelings of grief. Grief is an essential life experience that requires understanding and compassion. Embrace the journey with grace and remember that you are not alone.

Navigating Winter Quarter with Intention

In Focus

The winter quarter is notoriously thought of as the hardest quarter to get through. It’s cold, dark, and it feels like everyone is taking 18 units. In this article, we talk about how things that can help make the winter quarter grind a little less intense and a lot more manageable.

Loneliness and Empathy: Connect with Yourself First

How is Life Tree(ting) You?

For many students, especially on large, fast-paced campuses like Stanford, it’s easy to feel invisible. Everyone seems to be rushing, and even when surrounded by hundreds of people, loneliness can settle in like static in the background. The truth is, loneliness isn’t rare, it’s just quiet. You see people laughing in the dining hall, walking in groups, or posting about their nights out. Like the old version of me, you might wonder why you can’t seem to find that same ease. Next time, you find yourself feeling this way, try empathy for both others and for yourself.

Stop Resisting Failure to Strive Towards Resilience

Note to my Frosh Self

The word success is everywhere- our culture is nearly built on it. Failure is a word not to be spoken or admitted. Yet, we all inevitably face it. When we frame our efforts as simply “receiving X is success”, we set ourselves up in a success/fail binary outcome. But, what if we reframed failure as a guide, the torch to success? Indeed, it is only with the resistance built from failure that we are truly able to succeed.

Starting the New Year Strong: Resetting Your Value Compass with Intentional Goals

Tip of the Month

As the new year begins, it's easy to focus on resolutions and productivity. But true growth starts with clarity and remembering what matters most in your life, aligning your actions with your values. Through frameworks like ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and SMART goals, we can set intentions that are both compassionate and purposeful, guiding us toward a year rooted in meaning, balance, and authenticity.
