Resources to Help You Blossom as a Graduate Student
Dissertation Support Group
For those currently immersed in dissertation writing, whether at the beginning stages or nearing completion, consider joining the dissertation support group during the spring quarter where you can share your experiences, connect with fellow students facing similar challenges, discuss common themes (e.g. isolation, motivation, and relationships), and acquire coping strategies to effectively manage the stresses inherent in dissertation writing.
Enroll in Bio 315!
Receiving feedback on the work we care about can be both difficult and crucial for our growth and progress toward our goals in graduate school. During the upcoming spring quarter, GLO Deans and the GLO Well-Being Coach will facilitate BIO 315, a course that focuses on skills to develop feedback resilience including giving feedback in a calm assertive way, strategies for emotional regulation, exploration of how emotions impact our behavior when giving and receiving feedback, and discussions on self-support following challenging feedback interactions.
Additional Programs and Events
The Graduate Life Office offers ongoing inclusive programming for graduate students that explores three themes: Wellness, Outreach, and Social Connections. The Community Associate Program offers a peer resource working to build a sense of community in the graduate residences. This Spring Quarter look for our upcoming programs like the Spring Resource Fair which will include Well-Being at Stanford, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Vaden, Community Centers, and many more resources; a collaboration with SHARE Title IX to make posters for Take Bake the Night; and Sushi and Solace with our partners at CST. More information on our programming can be found on our Programs website and Instagram account.
