Tips to Become a Flourisher

  1. Subscribe to The Flourish: Start by keeping yourself informed and inspired. Subscribe to The Flourish to stay up-to-date with the latest editions, tips, resources, and campus events focused on supporting your well-being, personal growth, and flourishing. Our bi-weekly emails and monthly editions are curated with the help of our VPSA Mental Health and Well-Being interns and offer a fun, engaging read that you and your mind will be sure to enjoy. 
  2. Practice Self-Care: Self-care is fundamental to flourishing. Carve out time each day for activities that rejuvenate your mind and body. Whether it’s yoga, reading a book, or just taking a quiet walk, these moments are crucial for your mental health. Discover ways to take care of yourself and each other. 
  3. Connect with Your Community: Building strong connections is key to feeling supported and integrated at Stanford. Engage in campus events, join clubs that spark your interest, and volunteer for causes you care about. These activities not only enrich your social life but also strengthen your sense of belonging.
  4. Incorporate Mindfulness in Your Routine: Contemplative activities such as meditation or journaling can help kick-start and set the tone of your day on your terms.   5. Healthy Eating Habits: Good nutrition is a cornerstone of good health. Healthy eating fuels your brain, allowing you to be your best self in your studies, physical activities, and relationships keeping you energized and alert.   7. Digital Detox: Commit to unplugging from the vast digital world. Disconnect from devices to support reconnecting with yourself and those around you. This break from digital noise will allow you to take essential steps to achieve more mental clarity.
  8. Sleep Well: Never underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep. Think about how much sleep you need to feel your best (7-9 hours per night is typically recommended). Practice good sleep hygiene to restore your body and mind, keeping you sharp and productive.
  9. Reflect Regularly: Maintain a journal or a digital blog to reflect on your daily experiences, thoughts, and feelings.
