More About Alec Mathews

Alec brings over a decade of experience in higher education student affairs, with deep expertise in student conduct administration, academic integrity, conflict resolution, and educationally grounded accountability practices. He comes to Stanford from San José State University, where he most recently served as Associate Director of Student Conduct and Ethical Development and Acting Student Ombudsperson. In these roles, Alec has led complex conduct investigations, supported students through high-impact institutional processes, and partnered closely with faculty and campus colleagues to ensure fair, developmentally focused outcomes.

Alec’s work is informed by a student-centered, educational approach to accountability, informed by a holistic understanding of student development and a commitment to equity that aligns closely with OCS’s culture of integrity and fairness.

In his role as Assistant Dean, Alec joins the OCS Assistant Dean team in advancing the office’s work supporting student conduct matters, outreach and education around academic integrity, and strong collaboration across VPSA and the broader Stanford community.

Please join us in welcoming Alec to Stanford and to the VPSA team. We are excited for the experience and care he brings to this role and look forward to the contributions he will make to OCS and our students.
