Welcoming Our New Assistant Vice Provost for Accessible Education, OAE
I’m thrilled to announce that we have a new leader joining us in the Office of Accessible Education (OAE) at Stanford University! Please join me in extending a warm welcome to our inaugural Assistant Vice Provost for Accessible Education, Dr. Crystal Hill.
More About Dr. Hill
In her role, Crystal will serve as the strategic leader for the OAE teams responsible for disability advising, technology (including world-class alternate format production), and front-line professionals who facilitate student registration and academic accommodations. She will also oversee the ongoing buildout of a new centralized testing center at Stanford. Dr. Crystal Hill will collaborate closely with our academic colleagues and campus partners to advance the OAE’s mission of fostering an accessible and inclusive environment for all students with disabilities as well as advancing the critical work of the Disabilities Task Force.
Crystal brings with her a wealth of experience, having spent over 24 years as a higher education administrator focused on disability and access services. She comes to us from Ohio University, where she served as the Assistant Dean for Accessibility and ADA/504 Coordinator. Prior to that, she was the Director of Disability Services for Students at Texas Woman’s University.
In addition to her extensive experience and passion, Crystal is currently serving as the President-Elect for AHEAD (Association on Higher Education and Disability), a professional organization dedicated to promoting equity for individuals with disabilities in higher education.
Crystal shared that "Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Access is a part of who I am and my values," a philosophy that will undoubtedly enrich our division and the broader Stanford community.
Her academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy with a specialization in Higher Education, as well as a Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, all from the University of Arkansas.
Please take a moment to welcome Crystal when you see her around the office or on campus. As importantly, please also connect with Shelley Hou and honor her for her transformative leadership to shepherd OAE since the retirement of Teri Adams in Fall 2022. We are excited for the vision and leadership Crystal will bring to OAE and look forward to the positive impact she will make here at Stanford.
Welcome to Stanford, Crystal!
Warm regards,
Dr. Mona
