In the Spotlight: Mental Health Resources at Stanford

Main content start

What is mental health? Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.

What does it mean to take care of your mental health?

When it comes to caring for your mental health, it is no different than caring for your physical health – getting regular sleep, staying active, routine check-ups with your doctor. Just like we know that taking care of our physical health is important to keep us healthy, it is also just as important to care for our mental health. Taking care of your mental health is about finding the tools, resources, and support needed to better equip you to navigate and overcome stressful or challenging situations. You do not need to have a mental health diagnosis to care for your mental health.
