From student programs to campus initiatives, a lot happens behind the scenes. The VPSA Central Administrative Office manages the planning and infrastructure that helps keep Student Affairs moving forward. The Associate Vice Provost for Administration allocates resources for Student Affairs units, oversees the Bechtel International Center, and supports division initiatives, programs, and events.
Meet the AVP
In 2016, Margaret Dyer-Chamberlain became the Associate Vice Provost for Administration in Student Affairs. She leads finance, IT support, human resources, and facilities on behalf of the division as well as the Bechtel International Center.
From 2009–16, she was senior research scholar and managing director at the Stanford Center on Longevity. Prior to this, she served as the senior director of capital planning and space management for Land, Buildings and Real Estate. During her 20 plus years at Stanford, Margaret has had numerous occasions to work with Student Affairs, including the renovations of Tresidder Memorial Union and Old Union.
Margaret has extensive experience with long-term strategic planning, facilities and capital planning, and financial management at Stanford and as associate provost at Dartmouth College. At Stanford, she has developed university-wide policies and procedures for space utilization agreements, the Form 1 system, and the annual facilities reserve process.
In addition to her administrative expertise, she was the assistant provost for development at Dartmouth, supporting fundraising campaigns, and administering undergraduate fellowships at Harvard University as assistant to the academic dean and resident tutor for Winthrop House.
Margaret began her career working with refugees and helping them resettle in the United States. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
VPSA Central Administrative Office Units
This unit communicates university policies and procedures across the division and participates in university-wide groups, such as the University Management Group.
Bechtel International Center is where international students and scholars, along with their families, are supported. The center is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with federal immigration regulations, supports and advises international students, scholars, and families regarding immigration and visa issues, advises students pursuing scholarships abroad, and provides opportunities to increase international awareness and understanding.
We coordinate events at Tresidder Memorial Union, the Old Union Complex, Meyer Green, and White Plaza, among other locations. Our one-stop event planning service includes audiovisual, catering, entertainment, and room set-ups with both internal and external vendor partners.
