Prior to serving as interim associate vice provost and dean of students at Stanford University, Brenda McComb retired as vice provost for academic affairs at Oregon State University in 2016 and is professor emeritus in the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at OSU. She earned a BS and MS from the University of Connecticut, and a PhD from Louisiana State University. She has served on the faculty at the University of Kentucky, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and OSU. In addition to faculty appointments, she has served as Department Head, Dean and Vice Provost and she previously served as chief of the Watershed Ecology Branch in Corvallis for the U.S. EPA for a year. She continues to advise graduate students working on habitat selection studies, teaches graduate and professional education courses, and is a consultant on habitat management issues. She also enjoys spending time with her spouse hiking, biking, kayaking, traveling and photographing wildlife.
The Dean of Students Office is committed to ensuring that all students are successful during their time at Stanford by providing support to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the university community, regarding issues concerning student life. The dean also oversees the adjudication processes for students and student organizations.
